I have decided that my New Years Resolution is to see more movies in 2011, and this year looks to be very good for us guys. Here is a preview of the movies that could tweak my interest enough to get me to the theater.
Green Hornet 1/14: Seth Rogen superhero movie based on the old TV show with Bruce Lee. We will see if Rogen can pull of being a superhero
The Mechanic 1/28: Jason Statham as an assassin in a remake of a old bronson film. You had me at Jason Statham.
I Am Number Four 2/18: Action/Thriller about a guy on the run with special powers. Also has the hot blond from Glee
Battle: Los Angeles 3/11: Alien invasion movie with hottie Michelle Rodriguez
Sucker Punch 3/25: A kick-ass looking action fantasy from Zack Snyder of 300 and Watchman fame. This tops my list of must sees.
Your Highness 4/8: Hilarious looking comedy set in medieval times with Danny Mcbride, James Franco, and Natalie Portman. From the same director that made Pinapple Express.
Hanna 4/8: I am a sucker for flicks with teen girls who are assassins or like to kill people, ala The Professional and Kick-ass. So this movie is right up my alley.
Thor 5/6: Marvel comic movie about the Norse God of Thunder from director Kenneth Branaugh. Hopefully on par with the Iron Man franchise
X-men: First Class 6/3: X-men is re-booting with this movie about a young Magneto and Professor X and the origins of the team
Green Lantern 6/17: Ryan Reynolds as the DC hero with lots of cool aliens and special effects.
Transformers 3 7/1: 3rd go around for Transformers which should provide a couple of hours of mindless fun
Captain America 7/22: Marvel's 2nd movie this year that leads into the Avengers in 2011. Heres hoping Chris Evans can pull off the look and feel of cap.
Cowboys and Aliens 7/29: Cool looking Sci-Fi Western with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, directed by Jon Favreau.
Conan the Barbarian 8/19: Re-make of the cult classic. If they make him bad-ass, this could be the beginning of a sweet franchise
Colombiana 9/2: Zoe Saldana. Assassin. Revenge. Nuff Said.
The Thing 10/14: Prequel to the great 1982 film of the same name that starred Kurt Russell and Keith David. I would rather see a sequel but I will give it a chance
Immortals 11/11: Don't know much about this movie other than its about a war of the gods, it has the hot chick from Slumdog Millionaire, and I needed a movie from November
Mission Impossible 4 12/16: Probably the last MI for Tom Cruise as Jeremy Renner looks to be taking over the franchise
Movies that could be for the guys but I will be taking the wife to see
Hangover 2 5/26, Pirates 4 5/20, Sherlock Holmes 2 12/16
If there is anything that you think needs to be added or maybe something you don't think is manly enough to be listed let me know.
See you guys at the movies

Blog is Back!
Alright manly men, it is time to plan some guy events for the next few months. I posted a poll and some trailers for the upcoming movies that might qualify for a guys night out. So check them out and vote.
I am making some changes to the blog. Instead of just doing movies, this blog will also deal with guy outings and events. For example, trips down to chicago, grabbing some beers at BWW, or hitting the links.
The first of which is my plan for an annual Risk tournament at my house. My goal is to get 5 or 6 guys together on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Plan on a 10 or 20 dollar buy in with winner take all! So if you are up for some old school Risk action, post a comment on the blog or email me.

A-Team Review
Grade: Solid B
It was just me and Dilly for the A-team on Friday. After hitting BWW for some tasty wings we headed over to the Loews theater, which has been strangely deserted the last several times we have gone there. Overall I really enjoyed the movie. It was loud and fast paced with some really entertaining action sequences. Carnahan really made it a point to show the characters having fun during the missions as well as being excited when something crazy happened. I was pleasantly surprised by how funny the movie was. I laughed out loud several times, mostly with the banter between B.A. and Murdock. Sharlto Copley was great as Murdock. It must be hard to pull off a functioning insane character and he did it in a way that made it believable and enjoyable. Rampage was good as B.A. as well as Neeson as Hannibal. Bradley Cooper was probably my favorite as the handsome/charismatic Face. He basically played his character from the Hangover but as a Army Ranger and it was fun to watch. They did pay homage to the show a few times but in a way that was undistracting to the movie as a whole which I enjoyed. Also stay after the credits for a couple of extra homage scenes. Overall it was a great action romp.
Hope to see some more guys turn out for the next Guy Movie: Predators - July 9th

The A-Team
The A-Team:
Friday June 11th. 8:05pm Showing.
:Loews Theater in Woodridge
Pre-movie: BWW in Woodridge
:starting at 6pm
Post-movie: Tilted Kilt
:starting at 10pm
:starting at 10pm
This might be my most anticipated movie of the summer. I love the casting they did for the movie. Neeson as Hannibal, Cooper as Face, Rampage as B.A. It is just inspired. Hopefully the guy from District 9 will do well as Murdock.
Most big budget remakes end up as dogshit but I am hoping this is an exception. It helps that the director is Joe Carnahan who also did Narc and Smokin Aces. If you don't believe me check out this trailer: www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2054293273
Hope to see some of you basterds at the theater
